Style Guides & Templates
What's the benefit of using a Style Guide?
A style guide answers all your questions about which way to write something - English or US spelling, word usage, abbreviations and acronyms, punctuation, sentence style, font size and type, and more. English is an elastic language - infinitely flexible - which is ideal for a novel but not so convenient for business and professional writing. Developing and using an in-house style guide helps you to create documents that conform to your brand. It provides a ready reference for the way you want things done.
Why bother with templates?
MS Word differentiates between a document and a template for good reason. No one wants to set up a document from scratch to include all the correct layout and branding, whether it is a report, letter or proposal. We tend to grab the closest document we can find, rename it and replace the text. It works to a point. Setting up a template, however, with everything required for a specific document - layout, logos, font styles and colours - means that a perfect document can be launched from it each time - fit for purpose and none of the creeping errors that accumulate in documents that have been used and re-used for slightly different purposes. Learn how to make templates work for you. It is worth it.
How do we work?
We provide a generic framework for a style guide and customise it according to your needs. We build a style guide that contains all the relevant information you require and present it in an easy to use format.
We also create a master template, building your corporate branding into the fonts and layouts. We then cascade a series of specific templates with preset layouts and sections so that all your documentation has the same look and feel. Using the customised styles we build into the templates ensures you get exactly what you need each time. Absolute certainty and consistency.
