Who are we?
Footprint is a communications consultancy set up by Sally Burt in 2006, after working as a freelance trainer, editor and document designer, and lecturing part time in the Professional Communication Studies Unit at the University of Cape Town. Sally, who has an honours degree and a masters from Magdalen College, Oxford, worked initially as an analyst and fund manager in London before returning to study to gain her post graduate certificate of education from the Roehampton Institute. She moved to Johannesburg in 1995 and then Cape Town in 1999.

Footprint specialises in all things 'writing': editing, reviewing, training, materials development, document design, reporting, plain language, and both training and coaching in business or technical writing skills, including legal and academic writing. Footprint takes a holistic approach to writing, combining plain language techniques with document design, and supported by customised templates and style guides together with advanced Microsoft Word training on how to write and work better, faster and smarter.
The key to better writing is understanding what your readers or users actually need and then designing documents to meet those needs as efficiently as possible. Footprint also offers coaching and training on creating and delivering making presentations - with or without PowerPoint - that focus, as in writing, on audience needs. We work with you to identify needs and develop successful solutions.
